RAY COBBETT was brought up in Wimbledon during World War 2 and afterwards. He served in the RAF and began his career at local engineering firms. Although he moved away in the 1960s, later becoming a local Hampshire politician and a successful businessman, he retains an interest in the area. His father was related to the 19th century writer and radical, William Cobbett.
